Winter Garden runs from century-old bungalows around Plant Street to subdivisions built in the last few years, and the two need completely different treatments. The design starts from which one you actually have.
Historic homes need a lighter hand. The older houses near downtown have detail worth showing — deep porches, brackets, dormers and railings. Lighting that traces the architecture reads far better on these homes than a heavy roofline run, and attachment is chosen to protect original woodwork.
Downtown streets are walked, not just driven. Around Plant Street people pass on foot at a few feet away, so porch, railing and pathway details carry the display in a way they never would on a highway-speed street.
Newer subdivisions are a different job entirely. West of town the builds are recent, uniform and tile-roofed. There, precision is what stands out: custom-cut runs, even spacing and a clean line across the front elevation.
Mature oaks throughout the older streets. Winter Garden's established streets carry heavy canopy. Wrapping trunks and lower limbs puts light below the branches where the street can see it, rather than lighting a roof that the tree covers.

Winter Garden questions
Yes, and on most Winter Garden lots it matters more than the roofline. Under a mature canopy the roof is partly hidden from the street, so wrapping trunks and lower limbs is what makes the display visible from the road.
That's a common Winter Garden situation and it's solved with layers rather than more roofline. Pathway lighting, driveway edges, and wrapped trees bring the display forward so it starts at the curb instead of at the house.
Yes. Lakefront homes are designed for both approaches so the rear elevation isn't dark when the front is lit. It's worth raising at the consultation so the design covers both.
